The Apex Alpha UltraMax is designed, manufactured and assembled in the United States. UltraMax is the largest Alpha version using one 17670 battery. UltraMax is made from a single piece of electroless nickel plated aircraft grade 6061 aluminum. The Purely mechanical switch is the most distinctive feature on this unit. The huge switch is recessed into the main body and is activated by sliding. Large operating surface allows many styles for holding the unit. Built-in Self Adjusting Adaptive System allows you to use both IMR high drain and protected Li-Ion 17670 batteries without adapters regardless of their specifications. You can turn the UltraMax into a high voltage device by using two CR123A 3.0V (=6V) batteries. Comes with a 10 year warranty (3 years for the switch). Accepts 510 and 306 atomizers from any manufacturer. You can only buy wholesale amounts from the manufacturer website, check Innovapor for pricing and use the code “esavuke” for a whopping 20% discount. Custom aluminum carrying cases, custom aluminum Tru-Flow driptips, repair parts and a juice feeder called RES (Reservoir Expansion System) also available.

RES system is the best of my mods.

Stylish, very lightweight, comfortable switch, good battery life and throat hit with lr-cartomizer. I can’t really think of anything bad to say about it. Has become my no.1 mod. Don’t let the price fool ya, with the discount it’s about the same as other similar mods.

    Id buy something else.
i’ve had mine a week and overall not massively impressed took a few days for the switch to start working and now if you have the slightest bit of grease or sweat it still is a PITA.
Sometimes it won’t fire for no reason i can see and the res well its a good design but i can’t vape it dry at 6v without getting a dratty and i’ve not tried 3.7.
It doesn’t leak and if you over drip it stops it running everywhere oh and it gurgles like fuck when you fill it. still nice and small and i get about 1hr to 1.5hrs from a top up on the res.

I have owned an ultra for six painful months.
First issue is the finish. It is impossible to keep shiny. Ok, so you get use to the whole patina look but it really is a problem for me and that little polishing cloth is a total pain to keep using.
Second the stiff manual switch. Yes, it breaks in some but you have to constantly take this thing a part and clean it to keep it sliding.
Third (huge problem) the internal firing switch is brass ( old version) and it gets corroded and wet inside with ejuice. This makes the whole mod not work. You then have to take it all apart piece by piece and clean off the corrosion.

A new switch has been made to fix the problem but the company has treated my different email requests to honor my warranty and replace my bad switch with the new one with indifference at first and then down right unprofessional smugness. I was shocked at their emails after seeing how they present themselves publicly on ECF as being so customer service minded. In my experience it has been just terrible. I really don’t have an axe to grind here but after my experiences with this company I just can’t believe how I have been treated and how problematic my Apex Alpha Ultra has been.

I agree. buy something else. Doesn’t always fire plus the threading for 510s strip out very easy . I have had to adapter tops and started using a 510 adapter just so I would be screwing cartomizers in and out on the original threads. Didn’t matter still stripped out. The sliding button is hard to use if there is anything on it or your hand, Oils from your skin make this task impossible.
The threading really gets me. This shouldn’t be an issue. The opening is just a bit to big, which is why after about a month you can’t thread 510s anymore. You know when you look at the threads on an ego for the life of me why can’t mod makers just look at the threading because it always works and you can’t strip it

I purchased one of these and it is a huge pain. It does not work half the time and the customer service is pathetic. Just trying to get them to respond to your email when it stops working is a huge task.

It’s beautifully designed, but horrible functioning one! The switch stucks and slides all the time, the RES is not performing like advertised, the battery charger is terrific, cheapest chinese trash…
And the worst of all is customer support – it’s practically nonexistent! No money back guarantee, no customer support at all, nor even a kind, polite excuse…

It’s ultra painful mod to use!
Tarnishes very quickly, after just a couple of hours of very light use, sliding switch is very, very problematic (gets wet or greasy very often, and stops firing), RES doesn’t work as advertised…
My advise is to buy something else…

I was so happy when I got this item in the mail but to my suprise the res does not work at all. I followed all the instruction but then the liquid on the res stays on the res. The whole thing is a waste of money. Now, I am still using my UGO but work perfectly fine compaired to this. Buy something else.

First of all, I have owned my apex ultramax for just over 6 months. This is by far the best e-cig I have ever used. Like everything else you have to do proper maintance on your Apex. Threading issues: this is easy, clean the parts and apply vasoline to the threads, not a lot, just enough. The switch: this sometimes get dirty and you might have to take it apart. This is easy to do and their web site explains this procedure. Take the switch out. Put the switch on your table, spring side do. Then push down on the switch. Be carefull not to lose the little metal circular contact point (the part that touches the atty). Lightly sand the bottom side of the contact point and the push pin of the switch. Clean and dry the parts. Reinsert the little contact point. Reinsert the switch. Everything should work as good as new. Check for other maintance ideas from there web site. I have been more than thrilled about using this e-cig. I almost second guessed buy it because of the price, but trust me you’ll ever want anything else. The RES is so awesome, but you must be carefully about laying it down it could leak it is best to keep it upright when possible. I have had numerous kinds of e-cigs: tanks, mods, dual coil, etc. this still is the best ecig @ any voltage.

This device is pretty good with the RES. Good flavor, like dripping, without having to carry a bottle (if you’re only out for a while, or a light vaper). The RES has a learning curve, and requires a good sharp pull or two to fill the atomizer between vapes. This does sometimes lead to the dry atty taste, if you aren’t paying attention.

The switch is a little hard to activate, especially if you are used to pressing in, rather than gently sliding up. When you push the switch too hard, the friction prevents it from sliding nicely, leaving anyone with a greasy thumb annoyed.

The RES is not an all day fill, at 2ml, and has to be pretty frequently topped off to work well.

Overall, this is a very pretty mod, and is somewhat more convenient than dripping. Not really a beginner’s device, because it takes a while to learn to use it effectively, but a pretty good vape once you do. There are other mods I’d buy before this, but it’s a really nice piece to have in a collection if you can afford the high price tag.
