In V3, the mid-tube button (V1 & V2) has been replaced with a mechanical and lockable bottom button. Also the voltage resistor has been removed to make it a real 6V “high voltage” device. This seems strange to me as 5 volts was one of the selling points of the original unit.

Its a well built mod. It was my first bottom button mod, but I got use to it right away. It can be used at either 3.7 volts or 6 volts depending on the batteries you use which is convenient. At 3.7 volts it works flawlessly, at 6 volts however you will need High Volt Atomizers or Cartomizers or you will blow them. You will not be disappointed if you buy this mod.

This is one of my favorite mods the design is outstanding, regardless of who first created the bottom button Puresmoker perfected it. The locking feature makes this mod worry free when not in use. Does amazing at both 3.7 and 6v, not a great first 6v mod as the button can lead to longer run times on a toot if not careful, it caused me to kill an atty or two. This might just be an issue with the User not the mod. The size is total win and the juice well is a must have. Once you have a juice well you never go back.

Maybe I got a dud, I dunno. I haven’t liked this thing from day one. You have to use a HR atty with it. Standard will get too hot to take more than 2 or 3 vapes from it. Plus, mine misfires all the time. It seems like I have to adjust the contact screw almost every time I use it. It’s really too much work, for the price, to make this a viable device. It was great for the first 3 weeks I had it, but after that, it was like it just didn’t work consistently anymore.

The V3 was my first high voltage mod, and I’ve been using it exclusively for over a year now. It’s a tough little device. The build quality is top notch. The threads are nice and smooth, and the stainless steel is almost indestructible. I wasn’t sure if I would like the bottom switch design, but it becomes second nature quickly. The upgraded brass screw for the switch they now ship it with helped quite a bit, the original nickle plated screw required constant cleaning for consistent performance.

The beauty of this mod is it’s build quality and simplicity. I’ve put this thing through hell. Just the other day I got out of the car with it on my lap, then stepped on it all in the same motion. A few battle scars, but The only time it was damaged was when I dropped it with no batteries in it and the top cap off, it slightly bent the tube. I can still screw the adapter on and it works fine. I also have the problem of dropping it with the switch unlocked, which can dent the batteries and lead to charging and connection problems. I can’t fault PS for either of those problems, but if you are constantly dropping your mod (like i am) it might be something to keep in mind.

The ability to use it at 3.7 or 6 volts is also great, it’s like two mods in one. Many people prefer it at 3.7 with a low resistance atty, while I prefer it at 6v with a SR Boge carto. There are many options available, you are guaranteed to find something that works for you. The standard resistance atomizer it ships with burns wayyyy too hot at 6v, so watch out for that.

I’ve recommended this mod to more than a few close friends and family members, and they were all quite satisfied with it as well. If you do have issues or problems with it, Pure Smoker is a great company to deal with. I’ve received nothing but excellent customer service. I’ve moved up to a ProVari, but the V3 will always have a spot in my lineup as a reliable back-up.

The PureSmoker Prodigy V3.1 is the best overall mod on the market. I started using mine at 6v, which was great, then later switched to 3.7v batteries for longer run time and with a LR atty or cart it can’t be beat. It is compact, streamlined, tuff as a nail, simple to maintain and truly bombproof. I’ve been using it over a year and can’t imagine what could go wrong with it. I bought a backup, not because the first might break (not possible) but to ensure against loss. The PureSmoker website has everything you need to alter your Prodigy (batteries, chargers, adaptors, extra springs, parts and so forth). They also carry the best carts and attys at good prices. If you want a truly reliable mod, give the Prodigy a try.
